Hey there everyone! I’m here today to share with you guys the ultimate showdown: chapsticks. Now, if you’re like me, you have a chapstick at very key places. Me, there’s one in my nightstand, in my purse, in my bathroom, and one that I keep in my herb kit for travel. They never leave those places, and they get religiously replaced once they have been used up. (On a side note, there is a certain joy in finishing an entire tube of chapstick without losing it). Today, I wanted to share with you the last 3 chapsticks I’ve used and tell you which one has won my heart. Without further ado, here is my list:
1. Vaseline Rose Chapstick. Now here is a disclaimer before I talk about this particular chapstick. I probably won’t be purchasing Vaseline products any time in the near future, and here’s why. Vaseline products are based in petroleum jelly. Petroleum jelly is based in fossil fuels. To me, it is more of an environmental reason not to use. A little research goes a long way. But, because I did use the entire tube, I wanted to share my thoughts with you. For some background, I used to be a Vaseline fean. It did wonders on my skin! Luckily, I’ve found more natural items to use instead on my body. I really liked the smell of this chapstick. Rose-flavored anything generally wins my heart over. However, I wasn’t as impressed with it’s hydrating capabilities for me. Remember, I live in a desert-like environment, so I generally need a little more punch with my chapsticks. It added an incredibly subtle tint to my lips, but not enough to really make a difference. Overall, even if I were to continue to use Vaseline products, I wouldn’t opt for this chapstick. 2. EOS Lip Balm. I am generally a very huge fan of EOS. I think that what they stand for is pretty great. And the fact that they are able to deliver organic products at cost-effective prices is amazing. I personally like the normal-looking chapstick stick version. It’s easier to carry around and takes up less space. But of course, we all know that they are known for their round spheres of lip balm. I used their sweet mint version, and really enjoyed it. I used this chapstick before I went to bed, and for the most part, I still felt soft lips when I woke up. I think that says a lot. EOS is a great brand that I would highly recommend! They also have a ton of other products to play around with. 3. Mongo Kiss Lip Balm. Okay guys, I can’t profess my love for a chapstick more than this one. Mongo Kiss Lip Balm is hands down my absolute favorite. I recommend this one by far to everyone. I’ve thrown these in gift baskets, passed them around like free candy, the works. Trust me, I’ve gotten several people hooked on this amazing lip balm. Again, I LOVE what this company stands for. Organic products that also help the farmers that they get their ingredients from. This chapstick uses mongongo oil made from mongongo nuts. It’s packed with essential fats that are SO GOOD for the skin in terms of hydration. Remember, in Ayurveda, fats are not the enemy. Fats provide healthy amounts of lubrication all throughout our body. It also provides cushioning around our joints and bone, protecting it from friction. AND, it’s needed to maintain healthy, supple, soft skin! Don’t be afraid of fat! The company Eco Lips has a lot of different products that I haven’t gotten around to using. But the Mongo Kiss line is definitely my favorite. They have all sorts of flavors, but I prefer the mint flavor (I am not a fan of fruity or vanilla-flavors personally, so this limits my selection). Again, I didn’t feel like I had to reapply my chapstick so often like I did with the vaseline. The natural and organic products make it a no-brainer. I’m not worried about what is going in and being absorbed into my body. There you have it folks. My list of recently-used chapsticks. Of course, you can tell which one l’m in love with the most. Now, go! Buy the chapstick and enjoy them as much as I do!
