On the Road Necessities Part One

Hi! I bring you this post from the middle of my vacation in Florida! Let’s start here: where has the summer gone?! I am basically in shock that it is almost August. This time of year tends to be the busiest for myself and my family. Between vacations and work, it feels as though I’m barely at home. Unfortunately, it leaves me feeling the most vulnerable to outside forces. It’s harder to maintain consistency in your routine, and taking care of yourself feels impossible.

I wanted to share a few “on the road necessities” that I live by. I’ve broken it down into a few different parts and categories. The best part of about them? They can be used all year long as travel hacks.
In this post, I wanted to talk all about skin care. It’s SO INCREDIBLY easy to become lazy while you’re traveling. The chances of you being more tired and fatigued definitely plays a huge role. I know from my own experience that after a day on the road (whether it be for work or fun), it’s easiest to just change into your PJ’s and roll right into bed. Am I right?! On top of all that, it’s not like hotel products are all that. They leave my skin feeling dry and rough, neither of which I care for.

Below, I’ve listed out a few products (that are TSA-friendly!) that I keep in stock. They’re so amazing, and leave my skin feeling a-m-a-z-i-n-g!! Bonus—they smell just as amazing as they are. And of course, all natural/organic products—so no chemicals going on to my skin!

  • Shea Moisture Face Scrub: this stuff is great. I use this at night as my face wash. I’m not a huge daily exfoliator. I find it too abrasive for my skin, and it generally leaves it feeling dull and too dry. This one is a great exception. It’s super gentle and soft. I make the exception during traveling to exfoliate daily because of this particular product. I feel as though my skin can use the extra love while I’m traveling.
  • Thayer’s Rose Witch Hazel Toner: y’all know my obsession with this stuff. I found a travel-size version at Target. Of course I had to buy it!!
  • Burt’s Bees Complete Face Oil: okay. This stuff is a GAME CHANGER! I love face oils. I stumbled upon this cute fun-size bottle while I was picking up a few things for my trip. Like I mentioned before, my skin tends to get very dull and dry while traveling. Change of environment is not so gracious to my body or my skin. This face oil has changed all of that. It’s not super heavy or sticky (again, I’m in Florida, in the middle of 100% humidity—trust me, no issues here!) which is great since I’m prone to really oily skin. I’ve been using this one at night as my evening moisturizer. I feel like it really puts in hard work renewing my skin while I sleep.
  • Banyan Botanicals Daily Massage Oil: I’ve talked about the importance of daily massage in the past. It’s even more important while traveling, since being away from our home and routine is destabilizing and vata-inducing. Massage is a great way to ground and stabilize your body and mind. I love this travel size version that Banyan has put together so that I can continue to get my massages in even on the road. The Daily Massage oil is tri-doshic, so wonderful all body types and environments. Thanks Banyan!

I hope these skin care products benefit you as much as they have me! Stay tuned for the next post, as I talk herbs and hygiene!
