Yogis have the incredible ability to attract those around them and bring them in close. They are embodiments of love and compassion. They strive for greatness, wanting to leave a mark on this world not to be remembered, but to leave this earth better than where it was. The concept of social movement is taken to a whole new level with yogis. It's not about the fame, prestige, or the power that comes with the spotlight, but more of connecting and doing good in this world.
Yogis have the incredible ability to always see good in everyone. They pass no judgement--good or bad. They have this innate ability to see people and things "fresh" no matter how many times they have seen that person or been to that place. Everything is good, always. To constantly see the better side of human beings is a hard, yet conscious choice. It takes skill and perseverance. They have an uncanny knack to see potential where otherwise it is buried so deep that it would take years just to shovel off 1 inch of dirt.
Yogis have the incredible ability to see the universe in the greater context that it truly is. This world is more vast than our small eyes can ever imagine. Their vision goes past a 5-year plan. The idea of "there is something bigger than me" is understood so easily, and with that perspective their whole world is aligned with those words in mind.
Yogis have the incredible ability to live past their bodily life. Their work doesn't stop once the body stops. They realize that in essence, they are truly a spirit--one that never dies. The body is a mere vessel. And once that body leaves, so what? The work of their soul is never done until it is really done. Because the work isn't done, their love, joy, compassion, spirit, and soul lives on in their mark.
It's hard work being a yogi. It takes an immense amount of penance, patience, and discipline.
Everyone has their vision of who is a true yogi. To me, the ability to love truly, wholly, and unconditionally is the signature trademark.
Today, we celebrate a yogi that lived amongst us. A charismatic spirit that is seen today more than ever. May his love and compassion be felt by everyone. May his discipline and hard work inspire millions to come. May he bless us to understand that there truly is "something bigger than myself."
Happy Soul Birthday.
